Agenda

This year we will review the GBIF Nodes Strategy, update the community on the activities of the North American Nodes, and feature a hands-on workshop on the Registry of Scientific Collections (GrSciColl) and the forthcoming Collection Description Standard (LtC). Participants will learn about GRSciColl, now hosted and maintained in the GBIF registry: what it is, who it is for, and how it relates to other systems like Index Herbariorum, iDigBio, and GBIF publishers, datasets, and specimen-related occurrences.

We’ll also hear about the progress of the Collection Description Standard (Latimer Core Collection Description Metadata Schema, or LtC). The standard is currently being prepared for submission to TDWG for public review.

This will be followed by a practical session, where participants will contribute to GRSciColl by:

  • Updating their institution and collection entries
  • Adding missing entries
  • Handling potential duplicate entries
  • Identifying and setting up relevant master sources when possible
  • Linking their GRSciColl entries to GBIF specimen-related occurrences when possible
